1A - Mrs. Claudia Webster

First Grade is an exciting time for growing educationally, socially, physically and spiritually. Each child brings his or her own abilities and talents. Recognizing these unique qualities we use many different teaching techniques such as differentiated instruction and educational centers as we work with them to make certain that the learning experience is maximized for each student.

During this first grade academic year we teach good work habits and team work as we cover reading, social studies, math, science, religion and the arts. The new skills and knowledge acquired in each subject are integrated into all our course work to enhance the learning experience and reinforce new concepts.

If you wish to learn about the Massachusetts Department of Education standards for the first grade, follow this link http://www.doe.mass.edu/frameworks/current.html. As a Catholic School we work with the children to help them understand about our religion and what God expects from us as good Christians. We work to develop a family atmosphere as we focus on being kind and thoughtful to those around us. We follow God's Great Commandment - to love God, ourselves and others.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year as we work together to help your children expand their horizons as they grow academically, socially and spiritually.
