6A - Mr. Matthew Chancey

Welcome Students and Parents! My name is Matthew Chancey and this will be my first year teaching at St. Mary's. Since I am new to the Parish community I'll briefly introduce myself. I was born and raised in Boston and I graduated with a degree in Education and History from Boston College in 2007 and moved to Los Angeles directly after where I earned my Master's Degree in Child and Adolescent Literacy this past May.

I am very excited to start this school year and get to work immediately! In sixth grade we explore the Old Testament in religion class, travel to ancient lands in our social studies classes, and perfect grammar, punctuation, spelling and vocabulary skills in language arts classes.

Along with these academic goals we must try to follow in Jesus' footsteps and live the same way he did, always remembering the Golden Rule to treat others the way we wish to be treated.

"It is not enough to understand, or to see clearly. The future will be shaped in the arena of human activity, by those willing to commit their minds and their bodies to the task."
Robert Kennedy
