100 Years
7B - Mr. Robin Tracy
The Junior High Journey begins in 7th grade. A new building, new teachers and a more demanding curriculum are waiting for you. In order to meet these new challenges and to be true to our 100 year old heritage as a school, we should keep in mind the following verse from Philippians. "Do nothing from selfishness or conceit but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to his own interest but to the interest of others." Philippians 2:3-4
My goal in the 7th grade is to help us all to remember that humility is a godly thing and by placing humility at the center of our lives, we will develop the spirit and attitude of Jesus Christ. After all, God is humble and who has less reason to be humble than God himself.
Seventh grade students who are beginning the transition from childhood to adolescence are going through many physical, emotional, and spiritual needs and must establish a sense of self, and what better to be at the core than humility? Humility strikes at the root of evil; arrogance and self centered pride. With these traits at our center, we will be able to see God in everyone. St Theresa of Calcutta taught us to be able to see Jesus even in the poorest of the poor. It is through humility that we are able to achieve this goal.
By establishing a demanding academic program, opportunities for prayer, social activities and trusting advisement, my students will continue to develop their own sense of who they are and continue their journey to adulthood. During this journey to adulthood, many trials and tribulations will be encountered by my students and having faith, kindness and humility at the core of their being, they will be able to overcome any difficulty that may arise in their lives. It is through humility and kindness that we can learn to appreciate and be thankful for the gifts we have been given. We will watch our accomplishments grow, our successes multiply, and bring credit to ourselves and to St. Mary's.
The middle school at St. Mary's continues to build upon the foundations that are established at the elementary school. Through our various academic programs and social activities each student will continue to grow in the compassion and caring that sets St. Mary's apart from the rest.
