Bereavement Program
In a safe and supportive atmosphere, the Bereavement Program offers the grieving of Melrose and nearby communities the opportunity to come together, learn about the many facets of grief, acknowledge their loss, listen to others, support one another, pray together, remember their loved ones, accept different feelings, learn to cope and find a new role in life moving forward with hope.
Meeting Location:
Parish Center Living Room
Ministry Leader:
Patricia McConville
Objective:
To support those who have recently experienced the death of a loved one.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- publicize program/contact bereaved
- listen in phone interview
- provide support and referrals
- create a safe, welcoming environment
- present topics, facilitate discussion, share resources
- provide refreshments
- be available for additional support
Qualifications:
- some pastoral training, particularly in grief issues
- hospice and/or social work background helpful
Training:
Suggest archdiocesan course and/or hospice training
Time of Ministry:
Spring and Fall 6-week program on Monday evenings, 7:30-9:00pm
