St. Mary's School has a strict No Bullying Policy. We believe that every child has the right to attend school in a secure, nurturing environment. Teachers seek to develop a positive class identity and an atmosphere of cooperation and helpfulness, rather than competition. Classes discuss in detail conduct that is inappropriate and the effects of unkind words or actions. Throughout the first weeks of school class rules against bullying are posted as well as consequences for such actions. Students and parents sign pledges which attest to their participation in this program.

We acknowledge that this policy cannot eliminate all bullying instances. However, with the cooperative effort of the administration, the teaching staff, and the students and their parents, we hope to make our school a safe place where learning can take place.
