St. Mary's School Board

The School Board is a consultative board appointed by the pastor to assist him and the principal with the operation of St. Mary's School.

Objective:

To provide the pastor and principal advice and counsel on policy, operational, and strategic issues related to the school

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Develop and monitor the annual budget.
2. Define annual tuition rates, salary structure, and health care insurance subsidy.
3. Evaluate and vote upon committee recommendations.
4. Participate in committee assignments as required.
5. Develop policies.
6. Identify revenue sources and generate cost savings ideas.
7. Formulate a capital budget; review and approve capital expenditures.
8. Evaluate PSO fund raising events.

Qualifications:

1. Individuals with demonstrated dedication to the school who bring some unique perspective, experience, and expertise to the group.
2. Cross section of people. Limited number of current school parents; some previous school parents; others who bring broader community, parish, and/or professional background.
3. Ability to address a wide range of issues: educational, fund raising, marketing, development, administrative, facility, financial, and legal.
4. Willingness and ability to participate actively in discussions; develop and define recommendations; and make timely, informed decisions.
5. Basic familiarity with budgeting concepts.

Training:

No formal training at this time. New members are briefed to bring them up to speed on current issue. They are also provided hard-copy documentation

Time of Ministry:

Our goal is to have one 2 hour meeting monthly. The established committees (finance, marketing, development, facilities, and technology) meet separately on an as needed basis.

Length of Commitment:

3 years, with renewal as requested by pastor
