Welcome to our Faith Formation page! My name is Karen Tarmey. For those of you who do not know me very well, my husband, Michael, our two daughters, Cara and Sofia, and I have been members of St. Mary’s Parish for over twenty-five years. Our girls attended and graduated from St. Mary’s School. I have been a Catechist for several years during our time in Melrose. I retired in June 2018 after a thirty-one year career in Special Education, as a teacher and an administrator. This year is my third year as the Coordinator of Fatih Formation for Grades 1-10. I look forward to working with all of our children and our families.

Community service is an important component to our Faith Formation program this year for all classes.
We learned from Servant’s Heart Food Pantry of additional items helpful for the homeless people they serve. They distribute travel size hygiene products; the shampoo, lotion etc that you get in hotel rooms. If you have any of these items to donate, just send them in to our Faith Formation classes and we will collect and deliver them. THANK YOU!
In order to make certain that our children are truly prepared to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation, the foundation of their faith development is critical and must be solid for further spiritual development.
Our Eucharist and Confirmation Sacrament programs are two year programs. Classes are in person.
Our Eucharist program is a two year program typically beginning in Grade 1 with Eucharist 1. The Sacraments are received after the completion of Eucharist 1 and Eucharist 2, typically in Grade 2.
Our Confirmation program is a two year program typically beginning in Grade 9 with Confirmation 1 regardless of what high school the student attends. The Sacrament is received after the completion of Confirmation 1 and Confirmation 2, typically in Grade 10.
ATTENDANCE is important at all levels of Faith Formation. It is especially important during the Sacrament Years. If a students misses 5 Eucharist 1 or 2 classes, the year will need to be repeated. If a student misses 4 Confirmation 1 or 2 classes, the year will need to be repeated.
Grades 1-8 classes are held on Sundays in the PARISH CENTER across from the Church.
Grades 1-8 are 75 minutes long from 10:45-12:00pm
Confirmation 1 is held in the lower Church Hall and Confirmation 2 is held in the Parish Center.
Confirmation 1 and 2 classes are held on Sundays and are 2 hours long from 4-6pm
Homeschool option for Years 3-8 ONLY!
