Ushers & Greeters

The role of usher is a very important role during our
liturgies. The usher is the first person a Mass-goer meets when entering the church.

Objective:
Provide a welcoming presence of faith and assists those parishioners who need help at Mass.
Coordinating the taking up of the offertory and special collections during the Mass.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- greets parishioners
- assists people who may need help finding a seat
- assists people using the lift
- invites parishioners to carry the gifts to the altar
- recruits Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, as needed
- stocks bulletin holders
- passes the collection basket with the assistance of three ushers
- after liturgy is over, makes certain that all doors are shut and collection is secure

Qualifications:
Active member of the Parish, trustworthy, dependable
Training:

No formal training

Time of Ministry:
Saturday and Sunday Masses
If you attend a regular Mass on the weekends, please consider volunteering for the role of usher. Help us make Saint Mary's a truly welcoming faith community by warmly greeting our parishioners, helping those who need assistance with the handicap lift, arranging for gift bearers and helping with passing the collection basket. Men and women, from teenagers to seniors, are needed for this important ministry.

If you can't commit every week, offer your services on the weekends that you are available. See the head usher for the Mass and let him know of your willingness to help out.
